Q: In one of your columns a while back, you mentioned that Bette Midler was going to make a movie. Do you have any more information on this, like what kind of movie it will be and what role Bette will play? — Deborah Higgins, Hollywood, Calif.
A: I can tell you that it will be a musical comedy (to be co-written by Joan Rivers and George Furth) and that Bette will play a performer involved with a producer. I can also tell you that her second and third films for Columbia (it was a 3-picture deal) will be straight dramatic roles, according to personal manager, Aaron Russo.
