Bette Midler took jabs at Tom Brady and Anna Wintour at a God’s Love We Deliver gala on Thursday between handing out the night’s Golden Heart Awards.

Midler presented the org’s former board of directors Chairman Michael Sennott with an honor, quipping, “He’s helped raise [more than] $37 million. In the fund-raising world . . . this makes him LeBron James, Roger Federer and Tom Brady all rolled into one. Well, maybe not Tom Brady . . . I didn’t say anything about deflated balls. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Oscar campaigns begin earlier every year, and already the guns of autumn are firing for such potential nominees as Tom Hanks, Jodie Foster, Sigourney Weaver and Don Ameche.

The studios and publicity offices are readying trade paper ads to offer films and performances “for your consideration.” The champ in that department is Tom Hanks.

The foreign theatrical circuit ended 2012 with a box office bang as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey commanded the No. 1 spot with a weekend gross of $106.5 million at some 16,600 screens in 62 markets, raising the film’s overseas gross total to $464 million. Read More

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is still tops at the box office but the battle between “Django Unchained” and “Les Miserables” is heating up.

“The Hobbit” reclaimed the No. 1 spot at Friday’s box office, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and earned an estimated $10.7 million. The outlet reports that the film’s domestic total has hit $200.5 million after nearly three weeks in theaters. The film is expected to stay in first place throughout the weekend. Read More

Audience’s Love “Parental Guidance” ~ Receives CinemaScore Of “A-“

The holiday sees strong traffic at the mutliplex; family comedy “Parental Guidance” is the third new film to open on Christmas day.

Universal’s Les Miserables opened to a strong No. 1 on Christmas day with an expected take of $17.5 million, surpassing industry expectations.

The film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe, and was directed by Tom Hooper.

Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained also did bang-up business on its first day, grossing a projected $14 million, the top opening for an R-rated film on Christmas Day, exceeding the $10 million earned by Ali in 2002.

Django, from the Weinstein Co., stars Jaime Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Hollywood was pleased with the level of traffic at the multiplex for Christmas Day. Read More

Legendary talent manager Sandy Gallin celebrated his 70th birthday in style — by jokingly trying to strip Hugh Jackman at a party packed with stars including Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, David Geffen and Calvin Klein.

Gallin — who managed Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey and Whoopi Goldberg — threw his birthday bash at Donna Karan’s West Village studio Thursday night. Streisand and Patti LaBelle performed at the party, but it was “Wolverine” star Jackman’s turn that drove the crowd wild. Read More
