Legend, icon, and star Bette Midler, destroyed Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, along with her boss, Donald Trump.

And she did it using less than 140 characters!

DeVos announced that the Trump administration’s would rollback President Obama’s policies to protect victims of sexual assault on campus.

Per NPR’s Tovia Smith, DeVos emphasized the need to balance the rights of alleged victims with those of the accused. Read More

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) returns for its annual New York Fall Gala on November 7 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with host Neil Patrick Harris.

The gala — which celebrates the foundation’s 25th anniversary this year — will pay tribute to founder Elton John and his contributions to his foundation and beyond. “Elton’s philanthropic endeavors and activism for human rights and the arts have inspired millions and made a positive difference in people’s lives around the world,” said EJAF Chairman David Furnish in a press release about the event. “But without a doubt, Elton’s greatest contribution as a humanitarian is his 25-year commitment to building one of the most important institutions in the effort to end AIDS – the Elton John AIDS Foundation.” Read More

The most destructive words a boy can hear are, ‘be a man’

The most destructive words a boy can hear are, ‘be a man’
By Suzanne Fields – – Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Any woman could tell you that a good man is hard to find. Some men don’t measure up to what a woman wants them to be. Some are coarse, profane, mean and other bad things.

But most men are none of those things, and even bad apples in the right hands can become an appetizing applesauce. Besides, as almost any woman would ask, where’s the alternative?

Nevertheless, there’s a growing campaign on the left to denigrate men and something called “toxic masculinity,” cited as a menace to women, to the republic, to mankind, and all the ships at sea. A growing number of colleges and universities, which lately have become a source of a lot of toxic things themselves, are force-feeding young men the radical feminist nonsense that “masculinity” is at the root of everything bad. Freak Show’ tackles cliché with ‘trans-visionary’ grace
BY SOPHIE-MARIE PRIME

Editor’s Note: The arts and entertainment department is adjusting its grading scale from a letter-grade system to a numeric score out of 5. This change is intended to increase accuracy and consistency between reviews.

Director Trudie Styler described “Freak Show” as a “story of resistance” — and that’s right on the mark. Adapted from the James St. James novel of the same name, the film follows queer teen Billy Bloom (Alex Lawther of “The Imitation Game” fame). Lawther’s performance is spell-binding and genuine — Billy is radiant in extravagant costumes and possesses unapologetic confidence to boot. Read More

Bette Midler says even though she’s “about clueless,” she thinks she’d “make a better president” than Donald Trump.

The 71-year-old, currently starring in a Broadway revival of “Hello, Dolly!” and a vocal critic of the commander in chief, took to Twitter on Tuesday to blast Trump following a bombshell report that he disclosed classified intelligence information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador during a White House meeting last week. BetteBack September 21, 1974: How Come We Don’t Hear More About Bette Midler Lately?

San Mateo Times

I just love Bette Midler. How come we don’t read more about her lately?-K. O., Alexandria, Va.

Miss Midler, one of this country’s fastest rising and most talented singers, won’t cooperate with the press, who are anxious to include her in stories and articles. She says that unless the story is about.her, and her alone, she doesn t want to be in it, because she doesn’t like the idea of being lumped together with similar celebrities. Last year she won “After Dark” magazine’s Entertainer of the Year award, and this year she won a Grammy Award for the Best New Artist. Incidentally, another star who thinks the same way is Barbra Streisand. Read More

The actress has made her feelings about Trump clear.

Hollywood favourite Bette Midler has named an Australian icon in her latest attack on US president Donald Trump.

The actress took to Twitter to slam Trump for his executive order to reverse a range of America’s climate change policies, saying he was contributing to the deterioration of The Great Barrier Reef.

“#GreatBarrierReef is dead because of warming oceans, & #Trump rolls back climate change regulations. Short-sighted. Dim witted. PLAIN EVIL,” she wrote on her official Twitter page. Read More
