USA Today Reviews Bette’s New CD: Sings the Peggy Lee Songbook (* * * ½)

A singer known for her bubbly warmth may not be the most obvious candidate to cover the queen of cool.

But the Divine Miss M’s wit and sass make her a natural for I’m a Woman, He’s a Tramp and the wry classic Is That All There Is?

Midler also mines the poignancy in ballads such as The Folks Who Live on the Hill and Mr. Wonderful, al-beit with a lack of sentimentality that Lee would have approved of. —Elysa Gardner

Please check out my interview with Steven Lippman aka FLIP, Director of the Dual Disc Edition of “Bette Midler Sings The Peggy Lee Songbook”.

There is new music in the Bootleg Betty Jukebox and Bootleg Betty Records – all Bette!

There are a couple of new Bette videos up in the BMTV section for a limited time, so be sure to check them out!

I’ve put a couple of new polls up, so step inside the booth and make your vote count. Get prepared for the 2006 elections early. We’ll be doing lots of practice rounds…LOL

Bruce Vilanch opened his new show in San Francisco this past week and the reviews are great. Those of you in the area be sure to check him out! Make sure to check out my other site We Got Bruce

Don’t forget to prepare for Ms M’s MSN chat: Wed., November 16 at 7pm ET/4pm PT As usual, there are complications and controversies…supposedly, so far, the UK and Brazil are shut out, so I’m assuming other countries are, too. I have no clue as to Microsoft’s reasoning. I haven’t signed up…I don’t do chats for my own personal reasons. (Lack of patience and poor typing skills….LOL) So, don’t complain to me, address your anger to the appropriate sources. I am curious, though, if someone would kindly clue me in….

And as you’ll read farther down the page, looks like the Vegas rumors of Bette playing there are getting hotter! Nothing confirmed yet…but tongues are a waggin’

Love, Mister D
