–THIS movie “The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood” seems not to be
creating brotherhood. The chick flick stars Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock, Ellen
Burstyn. It was produced by longtime joined-at-the-hip cohorts Bette Midler and
Bonnie Bruckheimer, who’ve been together over 20 years, who’ve produced Bette’s “All Girl Productions” blockbusters, who, when they announced they’d make this movie, said: “We’re godmothers to each other’s children . . . we’ve been together longer than some of our marriages.” There was a showing in Hollywood. Bruckheimer, who lives in L.A., was present. Bette, who lives in New York, was not. Bruckheimer said to the assembled: “Listen, Bette’s name is on this picture. But that’s only because it was a contractual obligation. She actually
had nothing to do with it at all.” Ya Ya.
