Bette Midler just tossed so much shade at Kevin Spacey it almost caused an eclipse
By Bil Browning · Tuesday, November 14, 2017

Comedy goddess and singer extraordinaire Bette Midler just proved why she is a gay icon with one tweet. Midler shaded disgraced actor Kevin Spacey with one photo and 9 words.

Now that Spacey has come out after multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault, he’s lost his role in the Netflix hit “House of Cards,” his agent and publicist have dropped him like a hot rock, and his role in the soon to be released movie All The Money In The World will be reshot with Christopher Plummer replacing Spacey. WARNER HOME VIDEO

Though most people associate the Halloween season with horror movies, there are movies in every genre—from cartoons to comedies—that take their inspiration from the spookiest time of year, either in a pivotal scene or as an overall theme. Here are 20 of our favorites.

1. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962)

One of the most iconic scenes in this adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic novel is the night Scout (Mary Badham) walks home in a clumsy ham costume after a Halloween party: She and brother Jem are saved by Boo Radley (Robert Duvall) after being attacked by a man looking for revenge on their father, attorney Atticus Finch. Trapped in the awkward ham costume, Scout is both defenseless and defended—the heavy exterior thwarts the man’s attack and saves her from serious injury. —Jake Rossen Read More

Hocus Pocus is one of those movies you HAVE to watch around Halloween time, and if you don’t, then what are you actually watching?

The flick, starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, has become a cult classic — and before you watch it tonight on Freeform (don’t lie, we know you are), we’ve got a few secrets to spill about the flick.

Director Kenny Ortega spoke with EW about how Leonardo DiCaprio once auditioned for Max, and how the dust flying out of Billy Butcherson’s mouth was actually dust. Read More

Pink is not shy to admit that she and fellow singer Christina Aguilera have had their problems — so much so that they almost came to blows.

The pop star, 38, told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that while the two have made amends since their feud in the early 2000s, their relationship was very rocky.

“We were super young and super new at the whole thing, and I think I’m an alpha, and she’s an alpha,” Pink said of their feud during the “Plead the Fifth” segment. Read More

On AIDS Circa 1991: “I think it’s a wonderful thing that Magic Johnson came out and said what he had to say. But I think everyone pretending that it didn’t exist the last 10 years was absolutely criminal. I mean how could the government allow that to happen? If it had been 129,000 little white children {who died}, you can bet they would have raised a stink. You say to yourself, `Is that how the government’s going to treat me if I don’t fall into the category they cherish?’ Who are the people they like? Business people? White business people? What kind of a suit do you have to wear to get by? It’s just absolutely astonishing that nobody came forward,” says Midler, removing her glasses to dry her tears. On Women in general: I think women are just the greatest creatures

On Women in general: I think women are just the greatest creatures. “They instinctively understand everything. They know their role, they know what the planet means, they’re not careless. They’re the best creatures and all the way up until high school they’re smarter than the boys. So what I want to know is what happens when they’re 12 that the guys suddenly take over?” (The Washington Post, 1991) – Bette Midler

On the meaning of “For The Boys” to her:“The movie is really an examination of the way men feel about war and the way women feel about war.

On the meaning of “For The Boys” to her:“The movie is really an examination of the way men feel about war and the way women feel about war. Women try to be supportive, but in their hearts they hate it and no matter how good a war is, they still don’t want their children to go. The government never asks the women who provide the fodder for the government, `Do you mind if we take your children?’ Because if they did they’d say, `{Expletive} no, you’re not going to take my son.’ (The Washington Post, 1991) Read More

I want Sophie digging in the yard. I want my child to love the earth, to be able to call the birds if she wants to.

“I want Sophie digging in the yard. I want my child to love the earth, to be able to call the birds if she wants to. I don’t want her to get dressed up in spandex, tease her hair and put eye makeup on at age 6. I don’t want my child to be a little version of me. I love my kid.”(The Washington Post, 1991) – Bette Midler
