We’ve debated many a time about what movies should have won in their respective years, and while we all disagree (cause that’s what the commetariat does best (looking at you, Nick)), there is a basic consensus that the Academy rates just above the BCS in consistently getting it right. I think I’ve finally come up with a system to best nominate and vote for our official EDSBS Oscars, which will be held legally binding in any arguments about movies that come up about movies in the future. Respected Canadian actress Kate Nelligan won an Oscar nomination today for best supporting actress for her portrayal of an ambitious southern matriarch in the f i lm the Prince of Tides.

Bugsy, Wa r r en Beatty’s icy look at an equally c h a rmi ng and deadly mobster, collected a leading 10 nominations for the 64th a n n u al Academy Awards.

The film was nominated for best picture and actor for Beatty and received two supporting actor selections for Ben Kingsley and Harvey Keitel. Read More

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. “Bugsy,” Warren Beatty’s icy look at an equally charming and deadly mobster, today collected a leading 10 nominations for the 64th annual Academy Awards.

And “Beauty and the Beast,” the animated classic from Disney about love conquering all, became the first animated film in Oscar history to be nominated for best picture.

“Bugsy” was nominated for best picture and best actor for Beatty, and received two supporting actor selections for Ben Kingsley and Harvey Keitel. Read More
