BETTE MIDLER is up to her usual  temperamental” star routine. This time she refused to wear a certain wig for Cher‘s new TV show and kept the TV crew waiting more than an hour till she made up her mind to wear the wig and go on with the show. Even a beautiful wig couldn t hide that ugly temperament.

Do Gay Men Love, Dislike or Feel Indifferent About Taylor Swift?

Do Gay Men Love, Dislike or Feel Indifferent About Taylor Swift?
Instinct Staff | November 12, 2017

Gay men have had their share of female icons in their lives over the course of the past fifty years. Names that come to mind include Barbra Streisand, Cher, Madonna, Bette Midler and more. For my generation, the debate for many years was who did we like more: Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?

Although those are all still legendary names in the music business, the past couple of years has seen the rise of men in the industry dominating the charts after women like Beyonce, Lady Gaga and more were the ones at the top. Taylor Swift, however, has once again become the diva of the moment and catapulted herself back into the pop stratosphere due to the release of her album Reputation, which is already on track to selling well over a million copies in its first week of release. Mark Shenton: Broadway’s premium ticket prices are punishing loyal theatre fans

The Stage
Mark Shenton: Broadway’s premium ticket prices are punishing loyal theatre fans

It’s a fact of life, like death and taxes, that theatre ticket prices are rising inexorably. And now they’ve breached the $1,000 mark on Broadway – no, not through touts or the resale market, but from the official box office.

Tickets for front-row seats at many performances between late November and mid-January for Hello, Dolly! – when Bette Midler leaves the show – have gone on sale online with prices that have been spiked to $998. Once compulsory booking fees are added, the total for that comes to $1,009. Read More

BetteBack February 13, 1975: Cher comes back – A TV Review

Appleton Post Crescent
February 13, 1975

cher-320

Once upon a time there lived a couple named Sonny and Cher.

Their names went together as well as salt and pepper, bacon and eggs or spareribs and sauerkraut.

Sonny and Cher were not your average couple. They did things most couples never do, such as recording hit songs and naming their daughter Chastity. Later, they had a hit television show.

More recently upon a time, Sonny ” and Cher decided “for better or worse” did not mean “till death us do part,” and they decided to divorce. Read More

[when asked by Parade magazine whether she will retire after her show in Las Vegas]

[when asked by Parade magazine whether she will retire after her show in Las Vegas] I think so. I must say, my high kick is just as high as it ever was, thanks to tai chi. But everything is a bit slower. The mind – things don’t stick the way they used to. I feel like I’m going out with a bang. It’s something my husband and I have talked about. I certainly don’t want to die in harness. I’m not one of those people. – Bette Midler

BetteBack January 19, 1975: What Happened After The Cher Special Taping?

Lubbock Avalanche Journal
January 19, 1975

When Cher Bono wrapped up taping her first CBS-TV special, she with her steady, David Geffen (and don’t let anyone tell you differently) took off with the likes of none other than her first show guests, Elton John (In kilts and ruffles and of course, with his famous white framed glasses), Bette Midler in drab, and Richard Chamberlain along with a party of “intimates” and entourage to such a port of entertainment as Studio One in West Hollywood. They all danced together and then caught impressionist Lynn Carter
on stage in the Back Lot. What made it amazing was that many of the people crowding the big place didn’t recognize the stars. The put down was when a few did, they were rather sneered at by the Divine Miss M (whom they all apparently adored) and ignored by EJ (Mr. Music Super Star). Happily most were charmed by Chamberlain’s shyness and won over by Cher’s smiles and David’s congeniality. Read More
