Bette Midler sure likes her privacy, and the Divine Miss M is making sure everyone close to her on the Broadway hit “Hello Dolly!” keeps mum — no matter what!

“Bette had the cast of ‘Hello, Dolly!’ sign riders that were essentially nondisclosure agreements,” a confidant confessed to The National ENQUIRER‘s Rob Shuter.

“The cast even has to get permission to post photos to Instagram or tweets from backstage.

“Lots of celebrities have these types of agreements, but no one has ever signed anything as strict as this.“The actors’ union recommended consulting a lawyer before signing.” Read More

Bette Midler Accepting Her 2017 Tony For Best Actress: “Revival is an interesting word,” she continued about the show, which also won for Best Revival of a Musical. “It means something was near death and has been brought back to life. ‘Hello Dolly!’ never really went away…this thing has the ability to lift your spirits in these terrible, terrible times.” (2017)

Can’t keep a good Dolly down

Looong ago I told you Bette Midler waves bye-bye to “Hello, Dolly!” in January. With her salary plus percentage, she doesn’t need more bows, more bucks, or more pirouetting in high heels and tight corsets. Dec. 1, she’ll be 72, and just tumbled onstage mid-performance. Her people already consulted lawyers to determine if that flop — the tumble not the performance — is actionable. Like, to talk plain — when, which, who, what — can we sue over this. Read More

Broadway Rebounds As Bette Midler Breaks Another Record

Broadway loves a good rebound, and there’s no better pick-me-up than Bette Midler.

Back from a planned vacation, the Tony winner not only survived a tumble off the stage of Hello, Dolly! but also broke the house record at the Shubert Theater for the sixth time since the show opened this spring. It grossed $2.32 million over eight performances, with the average seat going for $199.

This year Midler has been the undisputed queen of Broadway. Thanks to her clout, Dolly! racked up over $40 million in advance sales before it even opened, and went on to win the Tony for Best Musical Revival. In addition to Midler’s for Best Actress, it also garnered trophies for Best Featured Actor (Gavin Creel), and Best Costume Design (Santo Loquasto). Read More

It wasn’t such a great week on Broadway for “Hello, Dolly!” Bette Midler took the week off and grosses fell by 11 percent. The week’s take fell to $913K from $2.3 million the week before. Capacity was down 11 percent.

All this points to why the whole main cast is leaving when Midler goes on January 14th. The show is being re-budgeted to real world box office when Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber take over. It also shows that this has really been Bette Midler on Broadway and not just a Broadway musical. Read More

Hamilton, the Bette Midler-led Hello, Dolly! and Disney‘s long-running The Lion King dominated the Broadway box office for the week ending August 27, each bringing in more than $2 million in a week that showed respectable, if quiet, box office figures for most shows.

Hamilton continues to lead the pack, taking in nearly $3 million ($2,964,052), followed by Hello, Dolly! at $2,198,977, and The Lion King with $2,053,299. Read More
