Aaron Russo On Bette Midler And The Right Script: “I waited six years for a movie for Bette.

Aaron Russo On Bette Midler And The Right Script: “I waited six years for a movie for Bette. The scripts I read and discarded either lacked quality or weren’t important enough for her. I wanted a role only Bette Midler could play. In other words, if she couldn’t make the picture, the project would have to be abandoned.” (The Evening News, January 19, 1976)

Bette Midler On Her Dad:

Bette Midler On Her Dad:”He was one of those poohpooher’s You’ll never amount to a hill of beans Maybe it was reverse psychology, hoping against hope that I would amount to something, but it was pretty painful for a long time. However, I used to fight back a lot. He couldn’t keep me down. I had too much inner belief. One day a talent coordinator for David Frost saw Bette and signed her for the Frost Show. The audience gave her quite a reception and Frost signed her to five more shows. Merv Griffin jumped on the bandwagon and so did Johnny Carson and Mike Douglas. She was on her way to fame! Read More
