The Drama League has announced that husband-and-wife duo Audra McDonald and Will Swenson will host this year’s Drama League Awards May 19 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.

Previously announced special award recipients include Bette Midler, who will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award; Bill Berloni, who will receive the Unique Contribution to the Theater Award; and Tony winner Michael Greif, who will receive The Founders Award for Excellence in Directing. Put on your Sunday clothes and celebrate Bette Midler in the new Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly!, opening on April 20 at the Shubert Theatre. Jerry Zaks directs and Warren Carlyle choreographs the production, which began previews on March 15.

With music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, Hello, Dolly! tells the story of an outspoken matchmaker and her attempts to marry “half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder. Read More

Bette Midler is officially back where she belongs. The highly anticipated revival of Hello, Dolly! celebrates its opening night April 20 at the Shubert Theatre, marking the star’s first leading role in a Broadway musical. The production, directed by Jerry Zaks and produced by Scott Rudin, began performances March 15.

Midler takes on the iconic role of Dolly Gallagher Levi; joining her are Tony winner David Hyde Pierce as Horace Vandergelder, Kate Baldwin as Irene Molloy, Olivier winner Gavin Creel as Cornelius Hackl, Will Burton as Ambrose Kemper, Beanie Feldstein as Minnie Fay, Melanie Moore as Ermengarde, Jennifer Simard as Ernestina, and Taylor Trensch as Barnaby Tucker.
