WELL, BETTE MIDLER’S 60th birthday and her “Hulaween” bash for the New York Restoration Project at the Waldorf-Astoria was a smash and a sell out.
Witches, goblins, cowboys, Indians, Vampiras and imps came costumed to the hilt, raising $2.2 million for Bette’s dream of a better New York! Hostesses Ellen Levine and Wendy Siegel were all togged out and Bette herself appeared onstage encased in a giant rose. Martin Short did his stuff as the auctioneer Jiminy Glick and for one little Jack Russell puppy, he upped the bidding to $15,000. Guests went home with Bette’s new Peggy Lee tribute CD, which had won raves that very day. Read More

More Hulaween

Photo: Not Sure!

I’m not gonna make ya’ll wait this year for a bunch of details. By now, you all know that Bette came as a “Bloomin’ Rose.” By the time we reached our tables NYRP had already made 2 million dollars…I think that was a record high for them.

When the 5 auctions/lots were over…Martin Short, as Jiminy Glick, had raised over 200, ooo.oo more! (correct me if I’m wrong, someone, anyone!) He and Marc Shaiman’s little musical act was absolutley hysterical and if I had half a memory left I’d tell you all the jokes. Maybe when I write up my special Hulaween page some of it will come back to me. Read More

Hulaween 2005: Preview

Just a preview:

Didn’t get to talk with the hostess with the mostest this time (timing is everything, and mine was just off, off, off, off, as they say…., but I saw a few BetteHeads that got the Divine opportunity this go round. Hopefully they’ll share some pics here or in some of the other clubs.)

I have a few shots that are sublime and divine that might be of interest that I’ll post later.
